Miller Electric Mfg. Co is a leading manufacturer of arc welding and cutting
equipment for fabrication, construction, manufacturing, and other industries.
The company is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, and is wholly owned by
Illinois Tool Works.
Begun as a one-man operation in 1929, Miller Electric has grown to become the world’s largest maker of arc welding and cutting equipment.
The company
currently employs 1,450 workers in a 1 million sq. ft. facility. Known for
delivering high-quality products quickly, Miller has organized its factory to
optimize production flow and improve overall quality.
Miller has many innovations in its long history, including the first welder with
a built-in wire feeder, the Millermatic® 35. Released in 1971, the Millermatic
was the first “all-in-one” MIG welder that was both affordable and easy to use.
It turned out to be the ideal tool for welding automobiles, farm and ranch
equipment, and home-hobby projects.
Today, some of Miller Electric's leading products are their Millermatic MIG
welders, Dynasty TIG welders, Thunderbolt stick welders, and Spectrum plasma
cutters.
